History of Afghan Tour State-Owned Corporation
Afghanistan has held an important position in the tourism industry in the heart of Central Asia, with significant historical, geographic, and strategic importance throughout history. It has played a key role in the tourism structure and cultural development of Central Asia. Geographically, in the medieval period, it held a crossroads position between the great and advanced nations of the world. Furthermore, Afghanistan's history, culture, historical monuments, and tourist attractions have attracted foreign tourists, leading to the development and growth of the tourism industry.
In 1337 (solar hijri), the Afghan Tour organization was established under the government of that time as a tourism profit-oriented organization. With its establishment, the flow of international tourists to Afghanistan began, and from 1340 to 1360 (solar hijri), this period was considered the peak stage of the tourism industry in the country.
In 1358 (solar hijri), the tourism organization was renamed the "Tourism Corporation," and in 1364 (solar hijri), it was named the "Afghan Tour Corporation." The Afghan Tour Corporation operated as a self-sustaining profit-oriented organization, attracting tourists both domestically and internationally, providing services related to tourism and travel.
In 1399 (solar hijri), the Afghan Tour Corporation was transformed into the Afghan Tour State-Owned Corporation According to a decree issued on 21/26/10/1402, under the leadership of the respected Amir al-Mu’minin, the Afghan Tour Emirati Company was established, with the leadership team of Emirati companies bringing its independent activities under one umbrella to carry out its functions.
